Awakening the Real David

Every young life needs a good influence. For David Dillman, the Kiwanis Key Leader program provided it.

David was young. Quiet. Depressed. He had switched schools over the summer—and started high school without any friends. His grades were dismal.

Then he attended a Key Leader weekend. “From that weekend on, I changed,” David says. “It awakened the real me. I was able to gain the self-confidence I never had.”

That change brought David into the Kiwanis family. His grades now: all A's, with maybe a B or two. “Key Club is now my life,” says David, who continued on to serve as Key Club lieutenant governor and currently is a Key Club district chair. He plans to join Circle K and Kiwanis as he progresses up the Kiwanis leadership ladder.

“This all came to pass through an amazing program like no other. That program was Key Leader.”

Not all young people need a drastic transformation. But everyone could use a positive influence.
